Lost in Thoughts of Trees

I have been wandering in forests and countryside, walking beside the lake and napping in trees thinking how I can transform the textures and shapes into felt.

wandering and working [with a view to waulking]

wandering in Aotearoa making felt and finding colour in the landscape despite the chills of winter
drawing and taking photographs
and planning a land-influenced piece for 'earthwaulks'
and wondering how the other feltsisters are getting on...

fashioning felt

dear feltsisters...

here's a nice place to visit for lots of pictures of interesting new feltwork...

an exhibition called "fashioning felt" at the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum on the corner of 91st Street and Fifth Avenue, New York

earthworks/walks/waulks

while the email elves are busily rushing messages back and forth between the Aotearoa Feltsisters in regard to the possible title of the proposed group exhibition for 2010 i thought i'd liven things a bit by posting a wee anonymous slice of hill for contemplation.

and here for further pondering an exquisite line from one of Janet Frame's poems

"The stain of words will soak through the thickest gloves"  [pp180, Janet Frame - The Goosebath Poems, 2008]

it's good that we're giving it [the name of the exhibition] such serious thought. after all - while the word [or words] we choose are intended to catch the attention of a possible audience the greater importance of the moniker is that it essentially provides the glue that binds the show...and creates the foundation for the relationship between our different works

drawing the curtain on 'window on white'

both showings of this exhibition have now concluded, and the objects all returned to their respective homes....and now the future is being plotted.

we seem all agreed on the idea of showing again as a group in 2010, and so [with that in mind] it seems time to change the header to something a little more inclusive [i.e. more than just white] but reflecting the fact that we [the group] are sisters in felt, and  though even though two of us come from other countries the Land of the Long White Cloud is our [creative] common ground and occasional meeting place.

so an interim change of header is going up...happy to adjust it if any of the feltsisters don't approve...
